The trailer is out for the new Whitey Bulger movie, Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp. The trailer looks hot so lets hope the movie is good. Its been a while since Hollywood put out a good true crime film, this might be it. Johnny Depp looks the part as Whitey Bulger and seems to have nailed this role. Maybe this movie can go down as a classic in the genre with The Godfather movies, Goodfellas and Scarface. We will see. It’s too hard to tell from the trailer, but it looks like the movie could be nice. I will definitely be going to see it.
I know a lot of people don’t like the fact that Whitey Bulger was a snitch but it seems like a lot of the best movies are on dudes that were snitches in real life or turn snitches in the movie. Look at New Jack City, Blow, Donnie Brasco, American Gangster. I know a lot of hardcore dudes don’t respect Whitey and rightly so. You don’t portray the death before dishonor ethos when you don’t really follow it but that is the mindset in the streets. In entertainment its a different perspective as we can all see. From the trailer I think the movie will be good but you judge for yourself and check the trailer out. Here it is. And on the bigger picture of Whitey being a snitch. It is what it is no matter how much he tries to deny it. The paperwork doesn’t lie.
